The business in Canada must demonstrate either economic, cultural, or social benefits for Canadians. Para R205(a) specifies that “foreign nationals applying to work for themselves or to operate their own business on a temporary basis must demonstrate that their admission to Canada to operate their business would generate significant economic, social or cultural benefits or opportunities for Canadian citizens or permanent residents”
Provincial Entrepreneur Immigration
Business individuals can apply for the Entrepreneur stream of application in one of the provinces or territories below;
- Alberta
- British Columbia
- Manitoba
- New Brunswick
- Newfoundland and Labrador

- Ontario

- Saskatchewan
- Yukon

Alberta has four subcategories including:
- Rural Entrepreneur Stream
- Graduate Entrepreneur Stream
- Farm Stream
- Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream
British Columbia has three categories:
- Base Category
- Regional Pilot
- Strategic Projects
New Brunswick;
Only has one category under business immigration. The applicant has to meet mimic eligibility requirements for age, education, language, personal network, business ownership, or senior management and business concept. The government of New Brunswick only considers certain types of new businesses or the purchase of an existing business for economic development. Nova Scotia:
Nova Scotia’s selection of business applicants is nothing different from other provinces in terms of eligibility criteria. Applicant must have at least $600,000CAD net worth and be able to invest a minimum of $150,000CAD. Applicant needs to have at least 3 years of experience in business ownership or more than 5 years of experience as a senior business manager and a language score of 5.
Ontario:
OINP is no different from other provinces’ eligibility criteria, language, age, work experience, and education are almost the same. The minimum personal net worth within Greater Toronto Area is $800,000CAD and outside GTA is $400,000CAD. The minimum investment within GTA is $600,000CAD and outside GTA is $200,000CAD. Applicant needs to register an expression of interest by email and if invited, submit an online application.
